[ Rex just ambles into the courtyard and spots Tsuru checking up on all the local kids. He spends a few minutes just. watching. when there's a natural lull in kids for him to talk to, though, Rex approaches. ]
(He tells them something that seems to have their attention and pats them on the head before sending them off! Once they're gone and Rex approaches, he replies,)
(And there goes Rex after the execution. Tsurumaru lets the boy go. He's never been the type to chase anyone down or stop them from doing what htey want. On the contrary, he'd rather let them run off and do whatever it is that needs to be done. Sometimes you need to stick your hand in the fire or kick down a few walls before you're really ready to settle down and try something else.
So after what feels like long enough, Tsurumaru will go to check on Rex to see how he's doing after the trial. )
[ well. let's say by this point he's mostly worked off all the angry "i need to kick something immediately" energy and so by the time Tsurumaru finds him, he's just. sitting curled up on the ground, face hidden behind his arms and knees. Amparo is just. curled up beside him. ]
(Kiku takes flight and flies a circle around Rex as Tsurumaru appraoches, signaling his arrival. She returns to Tsurumaru's shoulder and he reaches to scratch under her chin. When he speaks, he keeps his tone gentle and light,)
Tsurumaru is in the garden. It seems like a pretty safe place to avoid running into glass shards but while picking through some of the flowers, his finger hits a stone that isn't a stone--
You're covered in bandages that have been quickly applied to you. Your body is sore and you're absolutely exhausted. You lie down on the tatami next to a Shinto priestess. Her face is covered by a veil and she carries a sword in her hands.
You shift your attention to look up at her as if she's speaking and let out a shaky laugh. You watch as she sets the sword down on the ground in front of her. The blade is dull, covered in dried blood, and obviously scratched. She takes out a cloth, wets it, and begins to wipe at the blood gently. As she polishes the blade, there's something not natural about how her tools seem to erase the scratches and repair any damage to the blade as if by magic.
Your hand reaches out to her, touching a corner of her robe gently. The scratches on your arm begin to fade. The dried blood turns to dust that blows away in a curious breeze. Even the threads of your robe begin to mend themselves, the dirt and blood fading to nothing, the cuts and tears becoming whole once more. As she takes care of your sword, you feel better, and you begin to fall asleep.)
(It's definitely cutting it very close to curfew when Tsurumaru grabs Rex and takes him over to the canals. It's also probably why they get caught out here during it, oops.)
[ in the background, the sweet dulcet tones of "Just the Two of Us" as performed by otamatones. i wish i could link you a cover but i could not find one.
anyway, Rex gives him a brief look of confusion at being tugged, but then nods. ]
[ He glances over at Amparo, in dog form, who nods back at him and runs for the canal, leaping at the edge and morphing into an octopus in midair before diving into the water. ]
Anything in particular she should keep an eye out for?

Firstly, there's music.
