[ that's all he manages to get out before a rock comes hurtling towards rin, as well as a very eager dog sprinting as fast as she can. ]

Rin screams as he dodges to the side to avoid the rock, and the Rinkou gets ploughed into by the dog. I'm assuming the dog is Rex's daemon so it'll have to hit Rinkou instead of Rin.]

Hey, I tried to warn you!

[ let's say as Rex gets within casual talking distance, he also happens to conveniently kick one of those special shards towards Rin! Hmm! ]

[And he just. Reflexively catches the shard.
